Frequently Asked Questions

PLEASE VISIT THE SERVICE TAB FOR A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EACH SERVICE

Q: What is PMU?

A: PMU stands for permanent make-up. Although it is called PMU, the techniques used are Semi-permeant and last anywhere from 1-3 years. PMU is a form of tattooing. It is similar in that pigment is deposited into the skin. However, a tattoo deposits pigment into the 5th layer of your epidermis, and our procedures deposit pigment into the 2nd layer.

Q: Am I a good candidate for PMU Brows?

A: As long as you don’t have any skin or medical contradictions, and are not pregnant or breastfeeding, you are likely a great candidate for PMU Brows. Please visit the tab “Prior to Booking” page to make sure that you don’t have any Contradictions that would make the services unadvisable. Further details are on this page. For some conditions, the medication used to treat them, or the condition itself, can alter the skin, colour of the pigment, colour retention and/or healing process which is why they are not advised for PMU services.

Q: How do I book a consult?

A: The first 45mins-1hr of your appointment actually is a consult. Here we discuss your desired look, assess your facial features, skin tone, skin type and natural shape of the brows and together determine the best procedure, colour and shape to compliment your natural beauty!

Before we commit to anything, we do a pre-draw, also referred to as “brow mapping”. Here we can manipulate different brow shapes until we find the one that best suits you!

Sometimes a client will prefer to have a consult prior to booking an appointment. That is also an option at no additional cost. Clients that have little to no brow hair or asymmetrical concerns are encouraged to reach out regarding an in-person consult.

Taylor also does a virtual consult upon booking where close up pictures of your brows are requested to determine if you’re a good candidate, and for what service.

Please send consult request to muskokabrowco@gmail.com or DM via @muskokabrowco

Q: What is the price and what is included?

A: Currently, the investment is $500+hst for any PMU Brow Service. Your investment includes BOTH your initial appointment AND your touch up appointment 8-10 weeks later. Your aftercare kit & ointment are also included.

Q: Should I wax or trim my brows before my appointment?

A: This depends! If you are someone who has a good amount of hair to work with, decent shape/structure to your brows, and you know the shape that you are after, then you can have your brows waxed 3-5 days prior to your appointment.

However, if you are someone whose goal is to add thickness, shape and structure to your brows, then I recommend NOT removing any hair prior to your appointment. The more hair that is there, the more options Taylor has to work with when it comes to shaping your brows. Taylor tries to work with as much of your natural hair as possible to achieve a natural and low maintenance look.

Q: When is my touch up appointment?

A: Your touch up appointment is a necessary part of the process. 8-10 weeks following your initial appointment, you will be booked in for your touch up which is included in the initial price.

The first appointment is used to help build the shape and lay the foundation. The follow up is then used to fine tune detail work, assess how the colour healed and modify as necessary for the desired look.

Although your Brows should be healed by 6 weeks, Taylor prefers to wait until closer to the 8 week mark for touch ups to really get an idea of how they have settled.

Q: How long will my brows last after my 1st appointment and touch up?

A: Once you have had both your initial appointment & touch up, your Brows should be good for 12-24+ months. Please note, this really does vary from client to client depending on some factors we can control, and some we cannot. Age, skin type, skincare, lifestyle, aftercare & long term care of brows all play a roll in their longevity.

You do not need to book in for a Colour Boost until your brows are faded by AT LEAST 50-60%. This is to preserve the integrity of your skin & brows and to ensure the best results now, and in the future. Too many frequent touch ups that are unnecessary can over saturate the skin impacting both the skin integrity and the healed results, specifically the colour. Sometimes a removal to lighten is necessary oppose to a boost. If you are unsure if you are in need of a Colour Boost, or the previous work you have was not done by Muskoka Brow Co. then please reach out to Taylor prior to booking your appointment.
